"The Ultimate Assassin"- Dishonored Review

 Platform: PC

Dishonored is a stealthy action adventure game that throws you into the corrupt and plague riden city of Dunwall. Here you play the role of royal body guard, Corvo Attano, to the empress of Dunwwall. After being framed for the murder of your beloved empress, you are thrown into jail to await your execution. It is here that you begin your journey of revenge to seek out those who conspired against you. You are aided with the help of the Loyalists, a group loyal to the rule of your fallen empress and rise to power of her daughter , Emily; as well as help from the Outsider, a powerful being who infuses Corvo with gifts, or powers, he needs to over come his foes single handedly. Will Corvo find retribution in killing those who murdered the empress and tried to kill him as well?

Appearance:
Dishonored is a magnificent looking game, with its unique colors, majestic and beautiful buildings, sharp surroundings and thoughtful city layout I felt as though I watched a painting come to life. The buildings in this game are many, and are riddled with an impressive amount of nooks and crannies you can use to get around throughout the game. With these towering buildings casting shadows in dark places, rat infested streets and the bared up windows, you could really feel the emotion of this plague ridden city. With it's barricades and armed guards planted throughout the game it really did make it feel like I was a part of a world run by martial law. With it's realistic action, like if a townsman tried to go somewhere they weren't allowed to go the guards would then beat them down if not killed them, I found this quit enjoyable to watch considering how responsive and realistic they acted as they would sound the alarm and chase after their victim. Finding games like that are far and few between. All in all this is a game that mirrors the sad and depressing lives of those that live in Dunwall (after the Empress' death) through its use of shadows and dark colors.

Gameplay:
Dishonored is played from a first person viewpoint with a large amount of emphasis place upon stealth. Sure you can go running in to combat like a bat out of hell and gank everyone of them with no problem but what's the fun in that? I personally tried to play through as stealthy as possible with out killing as many people as I could. The fact that developers made it a possibility to play the whole game without killing a soul was pretty cool in my opinion. This defiantly makes gameplay harder when you don't kill anyone, that's for sure.
However, I recommend killing them, its whole lot more fun and you are provided with many ways to do so. At your disposal is a variety of weapons including pistols, crossbows, swords and even supernatural powers.
These powers include blink, which allows you to teleport a short distance in the "blink" of an eye, dark vision which lets you see through walls and a few more like being able to stop time. Cool right? Powers are bought and upgraded through runes, which can be located throughout each map location. Spend them wisely however, you may not get to purchase and upgrade everything by the time to get to the end of the story. This game truly seems like its specially tailored to suit anyone's game style.
Another feature in the game is the chaos system which measure how much chaos your game style causes. The more chaos you cause throughout the game such as violence, bodies, and friendly fire, it will affect the world around you. This makes the city seem more sinister and affects how people react to you and the less chaos you cause has the opposite affect.

Cons:
Though this is a fun and loveable game there are a few things wrong as well. I for one found the voice to lip match up quite bad. I always found myself being let down how easily I could get through some of the levels for the simple fact that I, a supernatural power wielding assassin would take on your common guard. I found myself getting slightly tired of killing guards over and over again.

Verdict: 8.5
All in all though this is wonderful game that will have you exploring and killing for hours. If you're anything like me you'll take your time and try to find every little thing in the game. I haven't seen a stealth game this good in along time. Do I recommend you go get a copy? Hell yeah I do! I can honestly promise you that you won't be disappointed.

Thanks you Guys and don't forget to like, share, comment and let me know what you think, God bless!

"Ahoy"- Assassin's Creed Black Flag

Assassin's Creed Black Flag is the sixth installment in the Assassin's Creed series. In this game you play the role of a privater turned pirate by the name of Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway, who lives in the 18th century. Along his endless journey to achieve riches and fortune Edward unknowingly meets assassins and templars alike who influence him throughout the story. For a man that seeks to only fatten his coin purse, will Edward come to realize that there are much more important things at stake in the world he lives in?

Appearance: Assassin's Creed Black Flag is an amazingly beautiful game that nearly took my breath away as I powered up for the first time and played through some of its naval missions. The world is vast. When i say vast i mean VAST. So vast that i actually dreaded sailing all over the map to get to my destinations, luckily there is an option to fast travel. The serenity and beauty one experiences from a Caribbean sunset is something that can't be explained through words. This game very nearly mirrored that image as i sailed through the open sea with a blood red sunset dead ahead, its rays glistening off the reflective surface of the water. I smiled as I heard the sound of the wind in my sails as they responded accordingly, and the crew of my ship let out a cheerful shanty (or singing) of whiskey. I truly felt as though I was a pirate captain on the high seas. Thankfully the appearance of the world around you is just as well off on foot as they are when you are out in the open ocean. The villages and landscape alike really bring together the feeling of life in the early 18th century. Characters and movement look fluent as well along with well timed facial expressions that matches the audio that isn't in as many games as we'd like.

Game play: The naval game play in Assassin's Creed Black Flag is something completely new to me. This is the first game i have ever played that allowed me to captain my own pirate ship and do as i pleased. The possibilities of things you can do are endless. Need money? Then simply go plunder a few other ships in open ocean in ship to ship combat, take their cargo and sell it, the bigger the ship the better the "booty." If you're really feeling up to it go take on one of the four legendary ships on the map. You can even take on forts that guard the waters near islands. If you happen to get bored messing around in open water you can always go treasure diving, treasure hunting, hunting, the possibilities are endless. There is so much stuff to do in the naval part of the game itself that if i tried going over it all i'd be here for quite some time. Game play on foot is just as good. With the mobility of Assassin's Creed 3, and the big city feel like in Revelations, an island such as Havana can truly be an assassin's playground. With loads of things to do such as main story missions, assassination contracts and treasure hunting, you will hardly find yourself bored. Outside the animus however you are a nameless, faceless employee at Abstergo Entertainment where you will eavesdrop, and hack your way through levels. This part of the game i found a little boring for the simple reason it's not like before where you could free run and roam around. Instead, you have a computer tablet....ya i know right? Multiplayer returns with all new settings and game modes, but sadly is only land based.

Cons: Though i myself found few there are however those occasional things that annoy you. Firstly I would become quite irritated when Edward would occasionally jump in the wrong direction or not scale a wall properly and instead just keep trying to run up it. The longer you play the game, i found the more repetitious things feel. The story line is somewhat poor as well. I found myself doing missions that i wondered what they had to do with the story at all.  Those dreaded tail missions where you have to follow someone within a certain distance...ya they're back, unfortunately.  With the naval gameplay i found myself running into storms quite frequently as well, its pretty annoying trying to get to a location when you have to keep dodging rogue waves. I personally feel that the naval gameplay out weighs the land gameplay by a lot. It could just be me but tell me what you think.

Verdict 9: This is by far one of my favorite sandbox games and i highly recommend you all go out get this one if you haven't played it already. I do recommend that you play the previous games before hand to really understand where the game stands, and so you can better understand whats going on.

"Just Shut Up!"- The Guilt Trip

The Guilt Trip starring Seth Rogan and Barbra Streisand is your classic road trip film. Seth Rogan who plays Andy Brewster, is an inventor traveling across country trying to market his new cleaning product "scioclean" with the company of his overbearing mother Joyce Brewster played by Barbra Streisand.  From the very get go I almost immediately called out the plot of the story, son travels cross country with a mom he can not stand, they don't get along in the beginning, they fight, they make up, which I was right. I often found my self painstakingly bored as I watched Joyce nag Andy the entire trip and Andy be a dick in response. Joyce is your typical mother who only wants the best for her son, tends to over step her boundaries as she tries to help Andy in any way she can. Andy being the self absorb dick that he is cant see that she's only trying to do things out of love and often feels she gets in the way of things and ruins his life. The entire film I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for Joyce but at the same time I could see where Andy was coming from. If my mom was overbearing like that i'd snap too. My favorite scene in the film had to be the steakhouse scene where I got to watch Joyce stuff her face, meet a man, and bond with Andy all at the same time. This is when I really perked up and thought maybe this film isn't as boring as I thought. After the steakhouse scene the movie really takes stride as it begins to develop a more laid back and fun environment as Joyce and Andy begin to bond and become friends. I can't go on much more without giving too much away. Personally I found Joyce to be a little too annoying for my taste, this kept me from enjoying the movie as much as I would have liked to along with the fact that not too much goes on. Boring. I don't mean to make the film sound bad, don't get me wrong its one of those things i'd watch if I had nothing better to watch but its not an A lister for me. By all means though don't let my opinion keep you from watching it. I encourage you to watch any film I talk about and form your own opinion. All in all I got to give it a 7 out of 10

Verdict: 7

Madden NFL 25

What's going on you guys? I'm so sorry that I've not been posting lately, I've just been real busy and on top of it I got sick, that's never any fun. :p so I'm not going to delay you any further so lets get right into it.

Madden NFL 25 which would have been know to customers as madden 14 is the 25 year anniversary edition hence the big red 25 on the front of the case. So do not let this fool you like it did me the very first time I saw it. Madden 25 has not seen many changes since its previous installment Madden 13 which received a full blown make over from Madden 12. The changes made to Madden 13 were widely loved by gamers and were expected to be kept in the new Madden 25, you surly will not be disappointed if that is what you are looking for. Just because I am the way I am I expected this years game to have a variety of different game types where you could experience a lot, if not all, the previous Madden games through out the years, some play types, something, all in the comfort of one disk along with this years Madden. If you are like me do not get your hopes up for such memorabilia, for all you get to suffice your appetite with is a museum of the entire series in the loading screens. Madden 25 takes particular interest in making the gameplay seem as close to a live broadcast as possible, even the sponsorship, which is put on everything makes the game look and feel all the more real.

A lot of emphasis was put on making the game look better. Tackles and running look better than ever, you still get the hard hits but without the stupid broken limbs and uncalled for tripping and falling that came afterwards like in last years game. Thank you EA! Speaking of the A.I. they are no longer as stupid as what they use to be. They now actually play better and will make better calls depending on the situation they are in. Again Thank you EA! A feature I found cool was the fantasy twitter feed that let you know what others are thinking. It kind of got annoying, after awhile it began saying that my team was barley scraping by after I would win a landslide game. I'm not a giant madden fan but even I took notice to the fact that the same touch down celebrations are in this game as were in the game two years ago. Lame dude. The focus of the gameplay itself seems to have been mostly placed in running. With the precision modifier, all new spins, moves, dives, and hurtles can make a good running back the literal difference in a game. I myself found it quite fulfilling to juke my way past anyone who stood in front of me and run it in for a touchdown. However defense is a different story. With defense there is no precision modifier so your stuck with the same moves as before so your at a disadvantage.

The in game commentary from Phil Simms and Jim Nantz is a fun commentary to listen to but as in EVERY Madden game it gets old quick, and you find yourself listening to the same things over and over again. Madden must have the weakest commentary in sports games today. Personally connected career was the coolest part about last years game which allowed 32 people to play within a single Madden universe. Good news, it returns as "connected franchise" with a familiar addition "owner mode." I love owner mode. Owner mode allows you to take control of the entire franchise from, what you want to serve in the concession stands, ticket prices, you can upgrade the stadium or build a whole new one. Hell you can pick up your team and move them to a new city, give them a new name, colors, and logo if you really wanted, but you better be able to back it up seeing as how the fans affect everything. Don't get me wrong, owner mode is cool but its not a game seller. Madden 25 is a wonderful game to play and if you are coming into the serious being a few games short I highly recommend you go get your copy but if you are not new to the series and have Madden 13 I personally wouldn't recommend going out and buying it because your not missing too much in comparison to Madden 13; unless you want to buy it just so you can say you have it. All in all its a good game.

Verdict: 8.5

Fun apocolypse: A Fallout 3 review

Fallout 3 is an open world action role playing game that immerses you in a post apocalyptic world in the year 2277. Though the game may have been made back in 2008 by Bethesda Game Studios I wouldn't let its age fool you. Like I said before Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, just 36 years after its previous installment, Fallout 2, and 200 years after the nuclear apocalypse. As the player, your character is an inhabitant of vault 101, one of the many vaults built to withstand the effects of nuclear fallout. When your father mysteriously disappears under strange circumstances and the vault's leader, the Overseer, initiates martial law, sending security after your character, you are then forced to escape and journey into the outside world none as "The Wastelands."
Once in the Wastelands you must travel all over this open world in search of your father. As you explore you will meet a variety of characters whom which you may ask to join you.
You may have a maximum of 3 party members which include a dog named "Dogmeat" and a single non player character. Health is divided into general health and limb health. Limbs can be crippled causing you to experience more difficulty in playing and general health is your over all health which if depleted, you die. You can use a stimpak to heal both and food and water are available throughout the wastes. Weapons slowly degrade over time so you must repair them or find someone else to do so other wise your weapon will break and be of no use. Weapons range from a wide variety of things from pistols to plasma rifles, even to a rocket launcher that shoots anything you put in it. Fallout 3 features a cool little gizmo known as VATS, also know as, "Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System." When using VATS you can aim at a particular part of the enemy's body hoping to do crippling damage or go for that head shot. VATS displays damage you will do, limb health, current action points, the percentage of you actually hitting your target as well as the name of whatever it is you are attacking. Using VATS however costs action points which regenerate over time and the number of action points you receive can be increased by certain attributes. On your journey through out the Wastelands you will be confronted by many different types of enemies from the common raider to ghouls, super mutants and much more.

All in all this is a wonderful game that is never the same each time you play it through. Graphics are decent but its the story and the gameplay its self that really make you fall in love with the game. I personally love this game and have played through several times.

VERDICT:  8.5

Living on Mars?

So I got on the internet just a little while ago and low and behold right there on the msn feed is a bit on mars. The title read "Mission shortlists 1,000 candidates for life on Mars." Did I hear that right? Have we as humans come so far along in the technological world that we are finally talking colonization of another planet! I have always dreamed that I would live to see this kind of thing happen in my life time. Anyway on to the article. So long story short, Mars one was set up in 2011 by these two Dutch guys that want to establish permanent human life on Mars by the year 2025. The application process has already begun and there were 200,000 applicants that responded. The end number of people they are looking to go on the trip is 24 so they still have quite a long way to go seeing as they have only narrowed down there search to 1,058 people.  The people were chose from all over the world but the highest numbers of people include: 297 Americans, 75 Canadians, and 62 Indians. These people will be put through rigorous testing such as simulated life on Mars and isolation tests. God, how cool would that be to get to go to mars!! Here is the link:

Diablo 3 First Impression

Now I want you all to know that I am not one to spoil anything for anyone so ill try my best to keep any kind of spoilers out of what I say. So lets get started shall we. As I popped in Diablo 3 I was excited to get right into the game but was soon disappointed by a quite lengthy install but this I should have expected considering the fact that it is a big game. There is a  short little cinematic in the beginning to let you know what's happening presently in the game which was magnificent, I was truly blown away. I then went to the main menu where I was prompted to create a character, there are a few classes to choose from and I went with the witch doctor. I was disappointed to find out that other than choosing your class there really weren't any customizable options. There is a little back story cinematic of your character you chose that plays before you are actually put in the game. I am assuming that these are all specialized depending on the class you choose. Once in the game I was pleased to see the game runs on a simple left/right mouse button clicking attack system with additional attacks on the #s 1-4 hotkeys. Movement is a simple left click as well as interaction with the world around you. Combat is a breeze as well though I found it to be a little slow for my taste but I'm sure once I get further in the game and the difficulty progresses the combat will pick up. I am currently level 5 and will post an additional blog every 5 levels. I think in the future I will be more in depth about my gameplay and character so there will be spoilers in future blogs.  (Everything I say is strictly my own opinion)

Starting Gaming reviews!

So just a little background, my name is Dustin and I am fairly new to the blogging scene. I'm going to start blogging on a regular basis as I slowly play through games I have always wanted to play, same goes for watching movies. If your looking for a review I got it for you because it seems like I can never keep my mouth shut when it comes to being a critic. So without further or due the first thing I will be blogging about is Diablo 3. I will blog after a series of missions or just when I feel like it. I will put details of what missions I'm on as I play through. So please if you are a gamer such as myself, follow me on this epic journey to defeat an epic game on the pc known as Diablo 3. (This game is available on ps3, and pc as far as I know. More than likely available on Xbox 1 as well. I will look into this."
